THE JIMOTHENING

He comes. He hunts. He forgets why.

Moon preview: Waxing gibbous · one night out

In development for a private family Minecraft world. Art: renders of the current models; Baby’s and Boss’s poses come from animations still in review.

WHAT IS THE JIMOTHENING?

the short version

A custom Minecraft creature, a full-moon event, and an increasingly questionable family tree.

It’s being built slowly, by family, for family — for one private world that never asked for any of this.

THE CREATURE
Jimothy. A raccoon-shaped problem with his own model, his own animations, and no plan whatsoever.
THE EVENT
When the in-game moon comes up full, he’s meant to turn up. What happens after that is still being built.
THE FAMILY
He is no longer the only one. There’s a Baby. There’s a Boss. Nobody has explained this.
THE WORLD
The Brother Server: a private family survival world. Not public, not a network, not taking applications.

MEET THE JIMOTHYS

three of them, as far as we know
  1. Normal Jimothy, front three-quarter view. Normalrender missing
    No. 1 · Normal
  2. Baby Jimothy, a little under two-thirds of Normal Jimothy’s height. Babyrender missing
    No. 2 · Baby
  3. Boss Jimothy, about one and a half times Normal Jimothy’s height and far broader. Bossrender missing
    No. 3 · Boss
Shown to scale, rendered side by side from the current models. Nobody would hold still for a tape measure.

Case file 01

NORMAL JIMOTHY

The original. Allegedly.

The one it started with, and still the face of the whole thing. Drawn to people without ever being comfortable around them: he’ll run at you, think better of it, run past you, then panic about a chicken.

Temperament
Neurotic, curious, mischievous, frantic, cautious, scrappy, goofy, unpredictable. Not domesticated.
Repertoire
Idles. Walks. Runs. Arrives. Dies, dramatically. Eats, with both front paws. Panics. Poops. Throws it.
Status
Final model accepted. All nine moves animated in the model file.
Baby Jimothy standing: compact body, oversized head and ears, the same mask and pale muzzle. Baby Jimothyportrait missing
Baby Jimothy · model render · smaller frame, on purpose

Case file 02

BABY JIMOTHY

Tiny menace.

Same family, less of him. Smaller, rounder, more head than is strictly sensible, and suspiciously adorable about it.

Developmentally unqualified for whatever is happening.

Size
A little under two-thirds of a Jimothy.
In the game
Not decided yet. We’d rather not guess in public.
Status
Design accepted. Animations in review.
Boss Jimothy: the same raccoon built enormous, with a heavy mantle of fur over the shoulders and thick forelegs. Boss Jimothyportrait missing
Boss Jimothy · model render

Case file 03

BOSS JIMOTHY

Considerably more Jimothy.

The family resemblance, scaled up past the point of comfort. Heavier, broader, and built like he’s about to make it everyone’s problem.

What he actually does — how he turns up, and what happens once he has — is still being designed. We’ll say when we know. We’d like to know too.

Size
About one and a half Jimothys tall. Considerably more across.
Status
Design accepted. Animations in review. Mechanics undecided.

Please do not provoke him. Not because we know what happens. Because we don’t.

WHEN THE MOON IS FULL

eight nights, one problem

Minecraft runs its own eight-night moon cycle, unrelated to the one outside your window. Seven of those nights are ordinary. One of them is the problem.

Waxing gibbous

One night out. Nothing yet. Probably.

Preview only — this doesn’t read the live world.

In development

The plan: on a full moon, after dusk, Jimothy turns up. At sunrise, it’s over. How many, which Jimothys, and what they get up to in between is still being built.

FIELD NOTES

behaviour, animated and intended

Notice to all residents

Do not feed Jimothy.

He will assume it is a standing arrangement.

    Intended · not built yet

    Intended · not built yet

WHERE THINGS ACTUALLY ARE

the honest version

Some of this is finished. Some of it moves. Some of it is still an argument. Here’s which is which.

THE BROTHER SERVER

where all this happens

A private family survival world. No resets, no griefing, built by people who are related to each other and have to see each other at Christmas.

The Jimothening is being made for this world and nowhere else. It isn’t public, and this page isn’t a way in. That’s on purpose.

  • FAMILY SURVIVALBuild near everyone or wander off alone. Nothing gets wiped.
  • JAVA + BEDROCKJava players and supported Bedrock devices share the same world.
  • PRIVATEFamily and friends only. Not a public server, and not a network.
